In episode 41 Becca Erickson shared her story of starting Emerge Mothers Academy, a program designed for Twin Cities single mothers. Becca shared how her personal experiences have influenced the non-profit and how her journey has come full circle from being raised by a single mother to now helping thousands of single mothers in Minnesota.

Bio: Becca Erickson is a Twin Cities mom and wife, and she is the executive director of Emerge Mothers Academy.  A decade ago, emerging out of a single parenting season of her own, Becca saw the critical need-for and gap in community-care to tend to the small but seismic nuances of being a single mom.  Things like- gifting a mom with treasures on Mother’s Day, where such a colossal day might otherwise be missed by the children who don’t have Dad around to buy her gifts.  And from there, a full scale social service program came to fruition.  Emerge Mothers Academy has a holistic approach to coming alongside each woman; emotionally, psychologically, financially, professionally and physically.  In the years since its inception, Emerge Mothers Academy has served almost 500 single moms and over 1100 children.  There is much more work to be done to stabilize the lives of families.
